It’s the milk that makes Winter Tarn Dairy butter special, and nobody understands that more than Jeremy and Tricia Jackson, the Dairy’s founders. Like the farmers they work alongside their obsession with provenance and quality is everything. Which is understandable as it’s at the very heart of everything they do, and the same is true of the next generation of Jacksons too, who are equally as obsessed as their parents.
You see it all stems from the fact that for farmers it’s important that you are on the same page as them, that you understand the nature of what they do, and why they do it.
Once you begin to understand that you’ll begin to realise why the Jacksons are so good at what they do. Their insight and understanding are invaluable, which is why it may come as no surprise to learn that agriculture is in their blood. They’re descended from a long line of proud farmers, many of whom have tended dairy herds on the rich pastures of the north of England.
With this particular branch of the family setting out their stall in Cumbria, on the fringes of the Lake District, some years ago, and ever since then they’ve been proud to call this magical county their home and establish one of the UK’s leading artisan dairy businesses in the process.
